Live edge tables are crafted from a single slab of wood and require more specialized equipment and advanced woodworking skills compared to tables made from multiple pieces.
The labor-intensive process of cutting, drying, and finishing a single slab creates a unique piece of customized furniture that will outlast any factory-built item.
Local Artist Spotlight
Over the past 5 years, Stuart Goldlust has turned his woodworking hobby into a successful creative career.
The Beachwood resident, designs unique, one-of-a-kind furniture and accessories from reclaimed wood and metal from the Northern Ohio Area.
Stuart describes his collection as functional art for home and office.
Each design is constructed from unusual trees that were destined to be discarded as firewood or landfill and repurposed into a meticulously hand-crafted “functioning” work of art.
But he doesn’t want his work to only be admired, he builds his pieces to last for generations with extra reinforcement and specific coatings.
After working as the manager of training and documentation at the NASA Glenn Center in Brookpark, Stuart founded his own IT consulting business, traveling internationally for both government and private industry.
His woodworking hobby became a creative counterpart to his technical business. He constructed the first few pieces of furniture for his children and eventually started displaying his work in various Art Shows in Ohio.
The response to his work was so enthusiastic that he decided to turn his hobby into a new career.
